NTTP Faculty Officer: Robert Greco

Hello! I’m Robert Greco and I’m running for NTTP representative. I teach writing and rhetoric in the LLCW department.
I fell in love with the WPU community when I joined it 8 years ago, but since that time, I have seen the university’s model become increasingly extractive and exploitive of students and faculty alike. Our administration treats faculty members as problems to be solved or avoided rather than partners to be worked with collaboratively for student success.

As a teaching specialist whose recent doctoral dissertation focused on feedback on student writing and whose service to the Program in Writing and Rhetoric Committee emphasizes supporting struggling students, labor-based assessment, and AI integration, I am keenly aware of the bottlenecks created by poor faculty consultation and a desire to create endless “student-success” initiatives without ever taking the time to work constructively with faculty to ensure that students are actually succeeding. Time-waste and ballooning class sizes overwhelm faculty quality of life and erode students’ education, leaving the WPU experience a fraction of what it was less than a decade ago.

I’m running because I believe that William Paterson can turn the page. Of course, an NTTP representative’s first duty is to the wonderful NTTPs who work so hard across the campus in a wide variety of departments, fields, and positions. I look forward to listening to their needs and bringing their concerns to union leadership, but most important, I hope to serve as part of a larger team working to revitalize WPU by collaboratively placing student success at the fore of what we do.
